Here at Mini Sport we help those with Minis both old and new, whether they are for everyday use or for competition. Recently Patrick Mortimer came to Mini Sport seeking advice. He has recently entered Mini Challenge, with a Club Class Car and has already won a podium place. The Club Class cars are an uprated version of the MINI Cooper that can reach up to 135bhp and  are modified to use the 6 speed Cooper S gearbox as well as having a JCW cylinder head so are not slow by any means. However it was not his Challenge Car that we were advising him about… but watch this space!

In fact it was his wifes passion for Minis new and old that persuaded Patrick to opt for Mini Challenge and he has recently bought her a classic Mini Cooper so that she too can enjoy the thrill of driving Minis competitively. The Mini Cooper has previously been used for competitive racing and is therefore setup and ready to race, including roll cage.

Mr Mortimer came to Mini Sport to get some friendly advice on setting up the car and as always our mechanics and sales team were only too happy to help as they love talking about Minis, whether its renovation, maintenance or tuning. Whilst he was here he also purchased a few sets of Yokohama A032R Tyres – 165/70 R10 and some Ultralite Anthracite 6”x10” Deep Dish Wheels. This isn’t the first time we here at Mini Sport have seen this Cooper though as we have previously done work on the Mini and supplied parts for it before, and not just our sticker as in the past it has had a full Mini Sport engine fitted in it!

Patricks wife, Wendy has done plenty of track days with Patrick in his Cooper GP and has caught the racing bug. She is hoping to compete in Sprints and Hill Climbs in the Mini Cooper but is going to get a bit more familiarised with the car first, as is Patrick, before entering any serious competition.

We wish them both good luck in their Mini adventures!
