You may remember a previous post about Mini Sport supporting charity fundraising by sponsoring Nick Smith and Dave Finch (both born in 1959). They are going to be entering the Keyline Italian Job Rally in a weeks time now and will be driving across France and into Italy to Turin in their Mini of which is now a bright pink! The colour change is due to them doing this for the Breast Cancer Campaign and Prostate Cancer Charity.
The pair started with a red Mini which they bought for a reduced price due to it being used for charity. It was then put through its M.O.T. which it sailed through but it wasn’t long before some mechanical issues appeared. There was leaks of all kinds. Petrol, Water, Brake Fluid and Oil. The clutch also broke so this was replaced as well as the leaks fixed. A new Inlet Manifold and a Oil Cooler was also fitted to help them on their trip through the Alpine passes. All this work was kindly carried out by ‘New Duston Garage’ in Northampton who have yet to render a bill.
The Mini was then set to take its journey, minus the Pink. The pair planned to have the Mini wrapped in Pink but were quoted £1,400. Discussions ensued, and Andrew Cooper Car Body Repairs, South Wales and Massey Truck Engineering came to the rescue!
So as you can see, this has been a real team effort, involving individuals who each have a reason to support the good cause. As of today Nick and David have raised over £2,600, and are collectively on course for achieving their £100,000 overall target.
It not too late to donate so please help them support a good cause!
