We have just received some images off Peter Barker and Faye Whitear of their journey through the Alpes, competing in the Rally des Alpes. If you remember the last post you will know Peter and Faye were running in 17th overall and running well in their class, in their Austin Mini Seven which was the smallest engined car there.
It was a good start but on the fourth day penalties accumulated heavily and the pair eventually resulted with them settling for 4th in class with the eventual class winner and overall winner being a Triumph TR3a. But winning isn’t everything in this competition as the spectacular scenery is more than enough reward for a long, meandering drive which was hardly a burden in itself. The good news is that Mini Sports Paddy Hopkirk products endured the Alpes very well with our Paddy Hopkirk Brake Calipers and Discs taking plenty of brunt but naturally a new set of discs are now needed after a weeks worth of heavy breaking.
We hope Peter and Faye enjoyed the Rally and wish them luck in their next excursion.
