You may remember the recent post about the Rally des Alpes participants of which  are exclusively using parts from our brand new, limited edition Paddy Hopkirk range.

The Rally des Alpes started this weekend on July 3rd at Lausanne, Switzerland and is now well underway. Peter Barker, who Mini Sport are supporting is currently running in 17th, a steady start with plenty of miles left to do. Having won the event twice previously he will be hoping to gradually move up through the field as the miles clock up. Peter has plenty of experience and knowledge participating in this event and of Minis, having won last year in his Works Mini replica, Mini Cooper S which you can see here →. This can only be a good thing as it gets to the latter stages of the rally. Knowledge paired with reliability is always a good combination when entering long distance rallies and Peter reports that our Paddy Hopkirk Brake Calipers and Discs are holding up well and doing a brilliant job.

This morning the entrants will leave St Moritz, setting out in search of the legendary Stelvio Pass, nominated as ‘the greatest driving road in the World’ by the BBC’s Top Gear team. After that the route passes into the Austrian Tyrol before reaching the end of the day’s driving at Seefeld where the drivers can relax for the afternoon before the next leg.

This rally really is breathtaking whether you are going for the drive, the scenery or even just for the shopping! Not everyone who enters necessarily goes for the win as many enter purely to enjoy the drive of their cars and the beautiful scenery and culture. In many ways this rally could become a holiday but their is always that competitive edge.

We wish Peter the best of luck for todays drive and hope to update you soon!
