We have recently received a race report from Mini Sport regulars and Mighty Mini team Thomas Moseley and father Paul:
“After his best Qualifying and only 0.8secs off Poll Thomas Moseleys lap of 1.02.967 averaged 77.18mph around the historic circuit and he felt Confident for the race. Although only 9th he had the knowledge that he was quicker than 2 or 3 in front of him and the car was going really well.
After an indifferent start the first lap was a little hectic and several offs caused the frantic field to get in each other’s way but Thomas stuck it out and ended up still in 9th and was having a good battle in a group of 4 cars for 6th and was 7th Quickest on lap 5.
The race was going well until, on lap 6, a loose relay and wiring in the car unexpectedly got under the brake pedal, allowing Thomas only the hand break and tyres to slow him down in Shaw’s hairpin which was a little scary to say the least when approaching at over 85mph.
Spinning to save a certain head on with the wall at Mallory, Thomas lost 15 seconds getting the relay fixed and car pointing back on the track as he watched himself fall back to 16th overall.
Determined and anxious to make up for the spin he proceeded to drive his socks off setting 6th, 5th and two 4th quickest laps over the next 10 laps. He caught the back of the midfield group and made 5 overtakes to get back to finish a respectable 11th overall.
We are pleased with the improvement in car setup and performance and this was Great experience for Thomas and a solid aggressive drive overall.”
