Last week we took the engine out of the well know Works Replica as it had used excessive oil and was in need of remanufacturing. You can read more about this in our last post.
On returning to Mini Sport after competing in the Pirelli Classic Marathon our mechanic got stuck straight in and everything went as planned as the engine has now been rebuilt and fitted. 6 EMO has been sitting patiently for the Rolling Road as the Twin SU Carburettors that were sent to Alec Poole to be refurbished have returned and been fitted, leaving only the setting up and tuning to do.
The Rolling Road tuning went well on Friday with a standard setup for the Carburettor. However the early type 25D Electric Distributor was found not to be making the correct advance so this has been returned to the manufacturer for new springs and to be recalibrated. Another Distributor has been fitted temporarily so that some miles can be put on the new engine. Once the newly built Mini Sport engine has a few miles under its belt it will be back on the Rolling Road to set up the Carburettor to a better specification with more performance!
