The Mini Se7ens is nearing the end of it’s 47th season with just one more round left at the iconic Silverstone International Race Circuit, commencing on the 19th September. This season has been one of the most challenging yet with our Race Team, Leon Wightman and Adam Smith enduring 12 rounds at some of the country’s most prestigious circuits.
Both Leon and Adam have demonstrated skill and technique across the season with some excellent, competitive performances against competing Mini Se7ens. However, the previous round at Oulton Park Race Circuit, stunned us with an unexpected tumble on one of the tracks infamous chicanes and embarked on a little roll – eek!
We all know that Motorsport can be a dangerous game at times and after Mini Sports involvement in both Race & Rallying since 1967, we’ve learnt that excessive safety precautions are an absolute essential. This incident has shown that due to the strength of Adam’s car and the implementation of all safety devices and accessories, the car survived the impact and Adam came out unharmed with just a ‘little brain battering’ as he put it.

Following the incident, Adam wrote a statement stating ‘Just wanted to thank everyone for their help over the weekend, from the team and all their hard work in getting car #44 out, marshalls, medical staff and Especially those in helping loading up the car and off again! Nice to see such a club community, and thank you for all my messages of concern.’
Despite his rough ride at Oulton Park, Adam is excited to embark on another Mini Se7ens season in 2016 and will be rebuilding his Mini with a little help from Mini Sport and friends!
Leon Wightman will continue to the final round at Silverstone on the 19th and 20th of September along with Mini Miglia driver, Dave Drew who is competing for Vice Champion.
